FOUNDATION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I PAY SCHOOL TAXES. ISN’T THAT ENOUGH?
No. Unfortunately the amount the State provides combined with levy dollars do not meet the costs of education expected by the Corvallis School District. The money that is collected through taxes and levies provides for basic educational supplies and salaries. The Foundation is working to enhance what your taxes pay for. We are working to provide additional classroom equipment and materials so that students will have learning opportunities beyond what the state can pay for.
I SUPPORT CLUBS, SPORTS AND/OR PAWS. WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME TO SUPPORT THE CORVALLIS SCHOOLS FOUNDATION TOO?
Each group does a great job of supporting programs in their individual school. The Foundation is working to address district-wide needs, and is not limited to a particular school. Many people want to use their donation to meet the needs of children throughout the District, beyond their affiliated school(s). Donating to the Foundation is one way to do this.
CAN I DESIGNATE MY DONATION FOR A SPECIFIC SCHOOL OR PROJECT?
Yes. In addition to donating to our funds- you can choose to donate to a particular campaign, to the school of your choice, or to a specific event or program organized by the Foundation.
I’VE ALREADY DONATED…WHY ARE YOU CONTACTING ME?
The Foundation staff does everything possible to remove donors from our calling list. We try to catch every possibility but much as we try, with 18,000 records, sometimes a donor sneaks past us. We apologize for the disruption and thank you heartily for donating!!
IS THE FOUNDATION PART OF THE CORVALLIS SCHOOL DISTRICT (CSD#1)? HOW ARE THEY RELATED?
Although the Foundation’s mission is to enhance educational opportunities for all Corvallis School District Students and it works closely with CSD, the Foundation is *NOT* an arm of the Corvallis School District. The Foundation is a separate organization with its own board of Trustees and staff. The dispensation of funds raised is based on the mission and goals developed by the Corvallis Schools Foundation trustees. The Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer driven organization that raises money to support the education of all Corvallis students in public schools.
HOW DID YOU GET MY CONTACT INFORMATION?
The Public Information Act allows organizations to contact the District and request information from the District. Parents are allowed to opt out of being included in that information by communicating with the District by September, 30. Your information was acquired through that formal, legal disclosure process.
WHAT CAN GRANT DOLLARS BE USED FOR?
Grants can request funding for any cost associated with the project. Funds can be used for purchasing equipment if the equipment purchased is part of a new and/or creative approach to instruction. Items become the property of the Corvallis School District.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
You can support the Foundation in many ways. In addition to Foundation board members, there are dozens of people who volunteer each year to help us with our spring fundraiser. We welcome anyone who would like to donate time, energy, money, or talent to help us meet our goals. Donations are tax-deductible and may be made in the form of checks, stock, or bonds. We also encourage donations in memory of someone or in honor of a special teacher or student. Please contact us for more information.
We all have a stake in ensuring the best education for our children. The quality of a school system is an important part of any community’s success. The school system affects property values, the appeal of the town for new business and industry and the general quality of life. Education of our children is a lasting gift.
